Don't Pay Attention to the "R" Word

 Wealthy Bag Lady

Don’t pay attention to the talk about “Recession”. A friend of mine said to me, “I don’t know if I want to spend time and energy growing my business. We’re going into a Recession anyway.”

The real evils to your business do not come from the outside, like the economy. The real danger comes from inside of you in the form of negativity. Don’t succumb to the poison of negative self-talk.

I started my business in 1988 when we were in a recession and everyone thought I was crazy. It taught me to run lean and mean and be creative with sales and marketing. A change in the economy could be your greatest opportunity and the naysayers will give you the advantage on a plate!

Recession in your own business will exist if you allow it to exist. It is important to recognize the trends of the "people" around us but do not succomb to the negativity and doom and gloom.

Be Flexible - Fair - Honest open minded and diligent and business will stay with you.

Cheers

Great post. I firmly believe that small business thrives in times of "adversity" because of its ability to innovate, be flexible and implement solutions quickly. There is an opportunity in every situation - the silver lining.
